These first things are from my Still Life painting class, which I just adore. It is quite interesting to learn oils, can't wait to apply it to some illustrations and learn more from it. Also, I apologize in advance for the terrible quality of these photos, but oils are hard to photograph!
The second class, which was a Value study (black and white). This time Adam helped me really learn to control Values. I really like the way it came out, too bad the camera didn't capture the subtleties.
This is the Third class I believe, where we finally moved away from he Value study. We used a palette consisting of Black, White, Grey (substitute blue), yellow ochre, and Terra rosa. I like the feel of this painting, and even a limited palette can seem fun and creative. The real thing looks better with the saturation though, and I'm finally painting fruits better.
This is the one we did today, the theme this session was Glasses. I think I did pretty well on this one, but the paint was wet so this is the best photo I could get. Promise to get a better photo of this...
Now for some my work in progress homework!
First here is a photo of the setup.
I liked the idea of this composition, it seemed very flowing, with the shape of the negative space leading your eye along with the folds.
This was a paint Sketch I did, probably 3-5 hours or something to do it. I was less concerned with the overall look of this and more with the effectiveness of the colors and folds. I painted this along Vee, which was tons of fun, there's something magical when working with another artist.
then I began actually working on it, I paid close attention to shapes of oranges and the cup. As well as making corrections on the color scheme of the background and foreground recommended by the instructor.
This is a couple of hours more of work, I added reflective light to the cup, as well as fixing a bunch of minor shape issues. I still have a lot more to work on this that needs to be done however.
The last is something I made in my figure modeling class last semester. It's a bust that took about 4 weeks to complete, and painted it with some shoe wax, copper paint, some burnt umber oil paint.
This bust is for sell, so if anyone is interested, call me at my Cell Phone # (415-609-3686), or you can Email me ( Musoshindenryu@homtail.com ). Price is negotiable, but I am looking within the 200$ prince range.
Now let me end this long-ass post with something fun I did in Iscriblle!
See you guys next post!
