Sorry about the lack of posting these last few weeks, been collecting all the paintings I've been working on to show you all in one marvelous blog post.
First up
This is Homework #2, managed to finish it with the help of the critique, and I'm glad I am done with it, reflective surfaces like this metal are some kind of wonder to me I swear.
Birds eye view in-class practice. I really enjoyed painting this one, and I discovered this love for painting really dented metal. Again, it looks better in real life, *stupid camera~.*
Drapery practice. This is the biggest in-class painting we've done, with a whopping 14 by 18. I found it to be a lot of fun, and really like the look of the reflective surface on the ground plain.
Casual set-ups practice. This is probably my favorite in-class painting done yet, the colors and the fun atmosphere just really sell it for me. Man, I also like the little Christmas decorations, too bad you can't see the detail I put on them.
Today we focused on High key paintings. I punched up the colors because they are hard to see from the photo, but the value range is very small, so it was interesting to experiment with a 'softer' pastel look with the high key set-ups, as well as the color range.
This photo is what I used to make my Homework number 3.
My latest homework, which was focusing on metals. I set it up as a low key painting, and used some different range of colors to separate the foreground and background. It's funny when painting homework assignments, I never quite have as much fun as I do with in-class, and struggle and take more time on them. Maybe it's a psychological thing.
